For over 30 years, Arzuffi has been designing and manufacturing custom PVD and PECVD plants for high vacuum coatings. We offer high productivity solutions, ideal for complex materials and geometries, with advanced technologies such as sputtering, evaporation, and plasma, for sectors such as automotive, cosmetics, and design.
With a strong global presence, Arzuffi designs, manufactures, and supplies thin film deposition systems worldwide. Our systems, distributed across various industries such as automotive, lighting, cosmetics, fashion, white goods industry, and many others, are synonymous with high performance, coating quality, and system reliability.
The technologies we employ are among the most advanced, capable of coating metals, ceramics, glass, and polymers such as ABS, PP, PE, PET, and PC, while also covering complex 3D geometries.
High-vacuum deposition is carried out using different techniques:
Sputtering: thin layers of material deposited on a surface through the use of ions or accelerated atoms from a solid target.
Combined technology: sputtering and thermal evaporation operate within the same chamber.
Thermal evaporation: a high-intensity current sublimates the material to be deposited.
Plasma PECVD: a plasma is used to generate thin films from gaseous precursors, creating advanced coatings with specific properties.

Sputtering (cathodic pulverization) is a physical vapor deposition process in which a "target" material is vaporized and deposited on a substrate to create a thin film. The process takes place in a high vacuum chamber where the target (solid material) is bombarded by energetic ions from a plasma that, hitting the surface, "vaporize" the atoms onto the substrate forming a thin coating. This process confers chemical, physical and aesthetic characteristics of unparalleled quality.
Thermal evaporation is a type of PVD application that consists of heating tungsten resistors on which the wire of the metal to be deposited (usually aluminum) is placed, which evaporates and condenses on the surface of the substrates. Thermal evaporation is one of the least expensive PVD technologies and the main strength consists in good penetration of the deposition in the presence of substrates with complex geometries.
Within the range of machinery we design, manufacture and install, there are systems capable of combining different technologies. These are solutions that unite two main deposition technologies in a single system, namely sputtering/reactive sputtering and thermal evaporation. The Arzuffi Combi-Met plant family also includes the following treatments: glow discharge, plasma polymerization as base coat and top coat, AHC (Arzuffi hard coating) and SiO2.
PECVD is a plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition process that allows the creation of nanometric films on materials, improving their surface performance. The plasma plants we manufacture modify the surface tension of different substrates through specific gases activated with ionic discharges. The most requested treatments include cleaning and degreasing, activation of plastic surfaces, increased wettability, hydrophilic and hydrophobic treatments, sterilization, anti-adhesion and anti-fog.
Since 1986, the year of our foundation, we have been committed to constantly upgrading our technology. We collaborate with the world’s most important OEMs in the automotive sector, which represent the majority of our customers. This has led us to pursue continual improvement while staying ahead of the times and anticipating the needs of a constantly evolving market.
Our installations exceed 750 units worldwide. We have achieved this result by working with a clear goal: to offer flexible and customized solutions to meet the needs of every customer. Our machines feature a compact and robust layout, allowing for easy transport anywhere in the world.
Traditional galvanic chrome plating processes involve the use of hexavalent chromium, a highly toxic material harmful to both humans and the environment. High-vacuum metallization systems offer an alternative thanks to extremely advanced, eco-friendly, and sustainable technology. Visit the section to learn more about Arzuffi’s Green technology.
